It is impossible to visit DC without a trip to the Mall and this tour will cover all of the main monuments and memorial sites like the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. However we will also visit some of the more obscure outlying memorials and also understand the stories behind the history, locations of the memorials and the creation of the Mall itself.

Going right back to L’Enfant’s original plan of the city we will talk about the original planning of the monuments and why they didn’t quite end up where they were intended. We’ll also hear the incredible story of the planning and building of the Lincoln Memorial and how FDR ended up with two memorials despite not wanting any.
